In talking with many of my students I’ve realized that many of them have not travelled many places. I’ve had students tell me that they haven’t even travelled thirty minutes outside of the town in which they grew up.
Understandably, it is sometimes difficult to budget for a trip or vacation with the high costs of college, but if you budget your money throughout the semester and plan early, you can get some really great deals on a vacation.
Why would you want to do this?
While you may love your environment and friends you’ve known most of your life, leaving your comfort area, even if just for a little while, will give you the opportunity to meet new people with experiences different from your own. Even just a conversation with someone new will give you insight that your world and the world of other people can be very different. Embrace those differences. Ask questions. You might find that your own personal view of the world and life might change in ways that benefit you.
